‘Cry Baby‘ has a convoluted past. As one of the better tracks on Global, it nevertheless disappointed, due to being faded out just as the climactic acid section began. The full five minute version eventually appeared in 2003 on Humanoid Sessions 84-88 (and later in 2007 on Your Body Robotic). In the meantime, fans were able to hear an almost full version as the b-side on the 12″ single of ‘The Deep’. The title is misleading: this version is certainly extended, but is not the LP version. Indeed, the track’s final 30 seconds are still missing as the track is prematurely faded out. Baffling. Nevertheless, as the only authentic Brian Dougans track on the single release of ‘The Deep’, it served a purpose.
