Candese – It’s Takin’ Me Over

Released on:
You Took My Love

Runtime: 2:31

A short track on the B-side of the You Took My Love EP, ‘It’s Takin’ Me Over’ is moodier and more clearly minor key than the other four tracks. Running to just over two minutes, and based largely around a single drum loop, four chords and the titular vocal sample, the song feels like more like a sketch, released to round out the EP, much in the way ‘Dope Module‘ did the previous year.

I’ve always been strangely fond of the track – probably the very pretty chord sequence – but on the whole, ‘It’s Takin’ Me Over’ is one of the most inconsequential tracks in the entire Dougans / Cobain oeuvre.
