Indo Tribe – Shrink

Released on:
Pulse Four
EarthBeat
The Pulse EPs

Runtime: 4:24 (Pulse Four, Earthbeat), 4:14 (The Pulse EPs)

The final contemporaneously released Indo Tribe track, ‘Shrink’ continues the project’s epic techno/rave sound, albeit with the lighter breakbeats that the pair were frequently using at the end of their Passion Music tenure. This gives it much more of a home listening feel than earlier Indo Tribe tracks, and, along with other 1992 material, fits in with a streamlined sound moving away from the dancefloor and towards the 3D Headspace of the band’s core discography. The track still has a big synth step melody, albeit one used sparsely: only twice, and only once in the edited version used on 2008’s The Pulse EPs set. The bulk of the track is given to filtered synth pads and layers of synth arpeggios, at times sounding more like Orbital than FSOL.
