Another obscurity that even the hardcore fanbase was unaware of for years. This French promo-only 12″ remix of the Stereo MC’s hit single ‘Connected’ was brought to FSOL fans’ attention at some point in the ’00s, after the record was first listed on Discogs. It’s hard to know exactly what to say about the track: the band aren’t particularly fond of it, and it’s hard not to see why. An ambient dub track built around a very unsubtle Pink Floyd sample and elements of the original track, it feels undercooked and simplistic by Dougans / Cobain standards, even if it was the band’s first downtempo remix, and indeed a rare early sample of them doing a slow track in general. After languishing in obscurity for more than 20 years, the track finally received a commercial release as part of the Stereo MC’s retrospective boxset Collected, renamed ‘FSOL Remix’.
