Pale Moons

Runtime: 4:16, 4:12 (Enhanced)

Almost certainly an ISDN era track, ‘Pale Moon’ is pitch black in atmosphere, with chugging, slightly lo-fi hip-hop drum beat, jazzy muted trumpet solo, and menacing guitar loops. Dark synth and windchime samples run throughout in the background, adding to the sense of foreboding; drum machine glitches add variety in the second half. Even more full of foreboding than most of ISDN itself, the track is one of the least welcoming pieces in the band’s catalogue, and it’s remarkable to think it didn’t end up on the album. A tremendous, if bleak, track. The initial download labelled the track ‘Pale Moons’.
