The Future Sound of London / The Amorphous Androgynous / Dianne Harris – A Tiny Point of Light

Runtime: 6:24

The fifth and final FSOL release from the launch of FSOLDigital. A standlone track released as a free download in 128kbps mp3 format, ‘A Tiny Point of Light’ disappeared from the site with its first redesign. A soundtrack to a 3D sculpture exhibit at the Kinetica Museum, the piece features Dianne Harris talking about peace, love, bliss and light, detaching from her physical body into the 6th dimension, and other nonsensical Amorphousy stuff. One’s enjoyment of the track may depend on how much one can put up with this gobbledegook. Nevertheless, the FSOL element, in the form of the ambient backing, built around backwards pianos and shimmering synth textures, is quite lovely. In 2005, Brian mentioned to me in an email that new FSOL tracks were being recorded for a possible work called Light Beyond Sound, which ended up being used as the album name in the mp3 tag of this release. However, it apparently moved further into Amorphous territory as time went on, with the title being used for a musically related track on the 2008 album The Peppermint Tree and the Seeds of Superconsciousness. A snippet of this piece also turned up on the FSOL Digital Mix in 2008, as well as on three YouTube videos, themselves closing with demos of then-unreleased FSOL tracks ‘A Glitch in Cellular Memory’ and ‘Hollow Earth’, as well as a still unknown piece.
