The Future Sound of London – Environment Six Plus

As with the release of The Cartel Vol. 1 + 2 three years before, the related Environment Six and Environment 6.5 were also released as a limited edition double CD pack in a slipcase. Each side of the case features the two different covers, with the lower spine referring to the double set as E6+ (just to annoy anybody even vaguely attempting to piece together a consistent naming policy at this point); the upper spine shows the Herd Killing, curves and EBV logos, as well as new emblems featuring a hexagon and four pairs of globules. The CDs line up nicely, with matching spines (other than the allcaps Environment 6.5).

While the two Cartel albums are very clearly linked, with alternate mixes of tracks over the two volumes, these two parts of the Environment Six series are intended to be different albums, making the pairing more of a commercial release than an artistic one. Nevertheless, it’s nice to have the two related records together, especially with new idents appearing on the artwork.

Vinyl fans were offered an E6+ package including both LPs, albeit packaged without a slipcase.
