Intelligent Communication – Open Loop

Released on:
Principles of Motion

Runtime:
4:10

Each side of the Principles of Motion EP features a dark, brooding track and a lighter, jazzier sounding one. Side A’s lighter track is ‘Open Loop’, which begins with the same kind of jazzy chords that lead ‘Stolen Documents‘, released shortly before. Very FSOL-ish flute samples lead into a much more melancholic second half, fading out with a sigh.

The mixture of softer melodies with sharply electronic sounds, drum machines and breakbeats gives the track some similarity to second wave Detroit techno artists from the time such as Carl Craig. A long way from the more obvious UK dance sounds of the time, ‘Open Loop’ is another track that could very happily have slotted in on the first side of Accelerator.
