Humanoid – Stakker Humanoid (Dub Drums)

Released on:
Stakker Humanoid ’92

Runtime: 2:43

After nearly 40 minutes of ‘Stakker Humanoid‘, that bassline becomes very tiring. Thankfully, the 1992 reissue closes on the strangest version of the lot, and a mix that omits the 303 line that’s been drilled into the listeners skull for over half an hour. Entirely percussive, ‘Dub Drums’ reimagines the original’s drum machines as textured, tribal rhythm, and throws in layers of tuned echo chamber percussion. Although not a standout track in its own right, it’s enjoyably odd, and a refreshingly experimental piece after the run of more conventional remixes that precede it on the single.
