Inner City – Praise (The Future Sound of London Instrumental)

Released on:
Inner City – Praise

Runtime: 4:49

Now here’s an obscurity. It took 21 years of looking online to even hear this track. I could, of course, have tracked down the promo 12″ the track was released on, although that never seemed to cross my mind (I recall it being difficult to find back in my disposable income days). Still, it eventually appeared online in 2021, and my remix collection was finally complete.

The track, although nothing to write home about, is intriguing in a couple of ways. Firstly, despite sharing a very similar runtime, it is not an instrumental version of the ‘Concept Dub‘ mix, but a five minute edit of the 15 minute ‘Future Sound of London Conceptual‘. Like that version, there is as much emphasis on ambience as there is house, and indeed the middle section is a long, atmospheric breakdown. Lacking the vocals, the remix might well appeal to FSOL fans who are less enamoured by vocal house more than the other two remixes. Without the vocals, it feels almost like a sister track to ‘Metropolis‘, with which, of course, it shares a number of samples.
