The Amorphous Androgynous – Yes My Brother – You’ve Gotta Turn Yourself Around

Released on:
Alice in Ultraland

Also known as:
Yes My Brother (You’ve Gotta Turn Yourself Around)

Runtime: 5:00

The start of a run of three tracks with no environments or crossfades. With the same name as the mispress Isness track, but only sharing its drum loop, ‘Yes My Brother – You’ve Gotta Turn Yourself Around’ is a hard track to place. Built around Gaz’s acoustic guitar, despite being instrumental (other than some very nasal ‘la la la’s by Gaz), it follows a verse/chorus structure. The verse features electric guitar and harmonica samples, the chorus being led by the ‘la la la’s. It’s a very simplistic track, especially by Gaz and Brian’s standards, with surprisingly little development over the course of its five minutes. Although the drums, at least, come from the Isness sessions, the rest of the track’s Americana feel is very much in line with the rockier direction Gaz was taking Amorphous in at the time.
