To promote the release of Teachings from the Electronic Brain, new remixes of two of the band’s best known tracks were commissioned for this 12″. Wighnomy Brothers & Robag Wruhmes – an odd credit, given that, in the studio, both names are aliases of Gabor Schablitzki – provides two reworkings of the ‘Lifeforms‘ single, with King Roc remixing ‘We Have Explosive‘. Neither of the ‘Lifeforms’ mixes resemble any of the FSOL versions – remixed in true FSOL style, one might say – while ‘We Have Explosive’ is given a fairly standard dancefloor makeover. By 2006, the standard single format had died off quite considerably, with the CD single format reduced to big pop singles and indie bands with hardcore fanbases, meaning this release only received a 12″ release in a plain sleeve, as well as a promo CDr. Had it come along a couple of years earlier and been given a more conventional single release, with the original versions in there too, it might have helped promote the compilation more, with either single or album maybe even charting. As it is, this 12″ was remarkably under-promoted, and the remixes remain fairly obscure in the FSOL oeuvre.
