When I was helping choose the tracklist for the Music from Calendars compilation, I was adamant about three particular tracks, and this was one. My favourite Synthi A track to date, ‘Surrounding the Garden is a Fog’ is a real stunner: gentle minor key sequences, over which layers of improvisation and melodies swell and increase over the track’s five minute runtime. The title is incredibly apt, summing up the eerie, haunting atmosphere created by the track. On Music from Calendars, the piece closes with a brief environment of waves hitting the shore.
